After the super success of his “Love Aaj Kal”, Imtiaz Ali has given the green light to direct a film for producer Sajid Nadiadwala. The film is expected to go on floors later this year and will hit screens in 2011.

“Yes, Imtiaz would be making a film for my production house later this year. It would be made after my next film ‘Kick’, which is soon going on floors,” Nadiadwala, who has as many as four films in different stages of production, told IANS.

While “Housefull”, which has been directed by Sajid Khan of “Heyy Babyy” fame, is complete and all set for an April 30 release, shooting is under way for “Anjaana Anjaani”, which has Siddharth Anand at the helm of affairs.

“Kick” is going through scripting, while plans are being put together for the film by Imtiaz Ali.

Since Ali has made three back-to-back romantic comedies -- “Socha Na Tha”, “Jab We Met” and “Love Aaj Kal”, will his next belong to a similar genre?

“It would be too early to divulge the subject as we are yet to lock it. Imtiaz takes his own time to script a film and that’s good because what he delivers at the end is simply superb. We will make other formal announcements at the right time,” said Nadiadwala.

But he said that like his earlier films, the movie with Ali would also be a commercial entertainer.

“I have made all kind of films. Some of them have been love stories, others have been comedies, a few have also been action dramas. ‘Jeet’, ‘Judwaa’, ‘Heyy Babyy’ -- they all belonged to different genres but then they all have been commercial to the core. I know for sure that my films can’t be dark cinema,” said Nadiadwala.

Doesn’t he feel like making small budget films and taking an experimental route?

“See, till the time we don’t have studios and start making 15 different films, it won’t be feasible to get experimental. In any case, I have always been part of big cinema. My father also used to make only big films. Do you know that he had made ‘Taj Mahal’ way back in the 1960s? Our family just can’t think small.”

The producer, however, clarified that “Kick”, which reportedly stars Salman Khan, is not completely an action movie.

“First of all, let me clarify that ‘Kick’ is not an out and out action flick. Someone just carried an article stating so, though it is nowhere closer to the fact.

“Secondly, it is too early to talk about the script. We are still in the process of working on it though we should be able to wrap up soon. We begin shooting in August-September.”
