He portrays an ideal media mogul in his latest film ‘Rann’ but Amitabh Bachchan hopes the media does not come after him after watching the movie.

Rann, which releases today, is directed by Ram Gopal Verma and depicts the rat race for TRPs in the growing electronic media in the country while giving ethics the go by.

The 67-year-old actor plays the role of a media baron Vijay Harshvardhan Malik in the movie who fights for upholding journalistic principles.

“I just hope you don’t beat me up after watching the movie. As far as my role is concerned I think I have done justice with it in the film,” Mr. Bachchan said talking to reporters at the film’s red carpet premier here on Thursday.

‘Rann’s release coincides with the release of ’Ishqiya’ that stars Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Varsi. Incidentally, Vidya played mother to Big B in his last film ‘Paa’

“I wish Vidya all the best and I hope the movie does well at the Box office,” Mr. Bachchan said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Verma insisted that the film is not about media bashing and does not present the entire media industry in negative light.
