You won’t find another woman like her who loves to be paranormal. “When I had my prosthetics on, crew members on the set avoided looking me in the face because I spooked them out totally,” says model-actress Dipannita Sharma. “I thought that was really thrilling. What’s the point of doing only the blow-dried-hair-glam-outfit roles all the time?” she asks. Dipannita plays a paranormal character in the Bejoy Nambiar-produced horror flick, Pizza 3D . The film, directed by debutant Akshay Akkineni, is the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit, Pizza .

When Bejoy approached Dipannita last year with this role, he was barely expecting a yes, leave alone a jump for joy from the actress. “Not many wanted to do this role, but I loved it because I relish horror films. I have watched every single horror film made around the world. I have even watched those direct-to-home DVDs which don’t get screened. I enjoy the art design of a horror film; it’s so much more engaging than a regular film. The décor is dark and deep. Like my mom said, I invited this film since I have been watching horror all my life, sometimes even on the sly, in spite of her constant reprimanding,” she says.

Dipannita will sport two looks in the film — one of a regular girl and then one with prosthetics. “There is an air of mystery around me in the early bits and hence the two looks.” Though it would take hours for the prosthetics to be put on and then some more to take it off, the actress says she could take it in her stride because she was doing something she loved.

“Doing those facial contortions and adapting that unusual walk was a wonderful feeling. It may seem crazy to people (her mom and sister have stopped reacting to her ghostly euphoria!) but for me it’s great. Having watched many horror films, I can say that Pizza 3D is unlike what you have ever seen in the horror space in India.”

Dipannita is working on two other films — Ikka Top and Take It Easy . “ Ikka Top is a thriller and all the glam gets back with it. I have a grey character in the movie.” The lady is reportedly doing her first item number for this film. “Actually, I am not interested in it; this special song is a new addition. But I am clear that I don’t want it to be brazen,” she says. Take It Easy is a social drama about the urban pressures on the family, especially on children. “It’s a beautiful story and I play a mother and a homemaker,” she reveals.
