The quirky British actress will play the role of the celebrated children’s author in a TV series to be shown on BBC, reported Daily Mail online.

This is not the first time that Bonham Carter will play a literary character. Besides the Harry Potter series, which is based on the books written by J.K. Rowling, the actress has starred in Hamlet as Ophelia and in Twelfth Night as Olivia, both celebrated works of William Shakespeare.

The 43-year-old actress has also starred in Fight Club , based on a novel by Chuck Palahniuk.

The biopic series on Blyton will give an insight to the private life of the author whose books include the Famous Five , Secret Seven and Noddy .

While considered Britain’s moral guardian at the height of her fame, privately Blyton was wrestling with her religious beliefs and also divorced her first husband Major Hugh Pollock in 1942 and married surgeon Kenneth Waters the following year.
