What made you turn producer with Agam Puram?
I was impressed with director Thirumalai’s sincerity. When the producer of the film backed out, I stepped in. The film has shaped out well, and is due for release — probably in the first week of April.
Looks like you’ve hit the jackpot in Telugu with Kick…
I’m happy Kick is a success. I’m playing the same role in its Tamil remake Thillalangadi, and in Kannada. I’ve been approached for its Hindi remake produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
So, does this mean more Hindi films?
Bollywood is an ocean. If you don’t take the right step, you’ll be lost. I’m cautious about taking up Hindi films. My next is director Faisal Saif’s I am Sorry.
Seems like romance is your forte. Doesn’t action interest you?
After Kick, it’s going to be action all the way. Of course, romance will be part of the package…
You were supposed to do a film on the late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Y.S. Rajesekara Reddy…
It was supposed to be my second film in Telugu, but it has been postponed due to the current crisis in Andhra Pradesh. I’ll be playing YSR. I’ve been given three books about him to read up. It’s produced by his close associate Avvs. Giri.
