Reinventing her career

Mamta Mohandas' second outing in Mollywood is paying her rich dividends in terms of characters. Although she made her debut as veteran Hariharan's discovery, her choice of films left her in the lurch despite her looks and commendable talent. After making her way to Kollywood and Tollywood, Mamta made her comeback to Malayalam in the sleeper hit ‘Passenger.' Then came a slew of films that saw her enact memorable characters. Her next film is Vinod Mankara's ‘Karayilekku Oru Kadal Dooram.'

Common factor

Saji Surendran's success in tinsel town has inspired several serial directors to take the plunge into films. Most of the films made by these directors have a common factor – Jayasurya. This is an intelligent actor whose clever choice of films and directors have helped him stay in the running and stay ahead of the pack.

Back to college

‘Pokkiri Raja' director Vyshakh goes to the campus for his new film, ‘Seniors.' His debut film had Mammootty and Prithviraj in the lead. His next has not two but four stars playing the lead. Jayaram, Kunchacko Boben, Manoj K. Jayan and Biju Menon don the main roles of four friends who return to their alma mater after 14 years to do their post graduation . “If ‘Pokkiri Raja' was an action film, this is a fun film that shows the four 30-plus protagonists on a campus that has changed beyond their wildest imagination,” says Vyshakh.

In khaki again

While ‘Prachiyettan and The Saint' continues to rock the box office, Mammootty dons khaki again to play an investigator in Shaji Kailas' latest movie. It is said to be a sequel to the racy ‘August 1,' an inspired Mollywood version of ‘Day Of the Jackal.'
