Blessy turns actor
Following in the footsteps of directors like Ranjith and M.G. Sasi, director Blessy has also turned actor in a Tamil film directed by ‘Nadodigal’ Sasikumar. The yet-to-be-titled film has Blessy playing a “small part in the film.” Perhaps it is to help him get a feel of what his actors go through. “Too early to say anything. There are many newcomers in the film and I play a father to two of them.” It was friendship that persuaded him to face the camera and he prefers direction to acting, says Blessy.
Indrajith is perhaps one of the most under utilised actors in Malayalam cinema. This engineer-turned-actor has always come up good in his roles and unlike younger brother Prithviraj, he has escaped being typecast in a certain kind of image or role. So from villain to hero, he has essayed all kinds of characters and continues to give his best to each of his roles. 2010 will see the actor playing some significant parts in several films, including playing the hero in Lal Jose's ‘Elsamma enna Aankutty’ and in Vinod Mankara's ‘Karayilekku Oru Kadal Dooram’.
All of a sudden , Krishnan Poojapura, who scripted Saji Surendran's hits — ‘Ivar Vivahitarayal’ and ‘Happy Husbands’ — is much in demand for his stories that managed to tickle the audience even without a single heroic character, great plot or bombastic dialogues. He is also the scenarist of another comedy ‘Sakudumba Shyamala’ that has Urvashi in the lead.
Jayaram has been cast by Vyshkah, the director of ‘Pokkiri Raja’, in his next film ‘Seniors’, which will be scripted by Sachi and Sethu (the scenarists of ‘Chocolate’). “There will be four heroes in the film. Biju Menon and Rahman are there but I have not yet finalised who will play the fourth hero,” says Vyshakh, all pleased with the success of 'Pokkiri Raja’, his debut film.
