It is not often that we see Telugu cinema debutants who experiment with new ideas. Sesh Adivi is one such rare breed of debut filmmakers who made that sensible supernatural thriller with a romantic angle, Karma .

He also played the lead role. Soon after the film's release, the handsome actor was offered romantic lead roles, but he didn't yield to the temptation. “I was hoping for something a bit more unexpected. I wanted to show that I could do something with a different range. I was looking for a role that has more shades to it, something a bit more complex, more unconventional. And suddenly one day, I got a call for the pivotal role in ‘Panja,” says the maverick actor.

Sesh was awed by the passion driven director Vishnu Vardhan during the making of Panja .

“Though I am only two films old, I have come across quite a few filmmakers and it's very rare that you see the kind of enthusiasm that Vishnu has on the sets. He is totally focused at the same time yet constantly multi-tasked. He knows exactly what he wants and how to deliver it. He gives the same amount of attention to the one line dialogue actor as he gives to the lead actors. Though he made a mark in Tamil cinema, he hails from a Telugu family and understands the Telugu sensibilities.

Besides, his films are slick and stylish. I also loved the way Anu Vardhan, the clothing designer designed my stylish look,” says Sesh.

That brings us to his character in the Pawan Kalyan starrer. “It is a pivotal role with negative shades. I play Munna, a spoilt brat NRI who returns home after a decade. The most extraordinary thing about Munna is that he has no limits and is a very explosive man.” He does not want to reveal more.

Amazing experience

It was an amazing experience working with the frank and candid Kalyan. “The world knows that he is a star with a charismatic appeal. I can say that he has brought a lot of style mixed with emotional depth to this film. Panja . He surprises you with his friendly nature and he is very frank, candid and honest with his opinions.

He values integrity and honesty a lot more than ‘filmy' talk. His opinions on things and more importantly, on my previous film in particular were so encouraging that I started believing in myself a lot more after speaking to him. ”

He says he is waiting with fingers crossed to see the audience reaction to his role in Panja his first major commercial movie. “The role I play in the movie is just like a bomb waiting to explode. ” Meanwhile Sesh is planning his next venture with cousin Saikiran Adivi (maker of Vinayakudu and Villagelo Vinayakudu ) set in Australia. Exciting and adventurous times are ahead for this young actor-director.
