Sudhir has appeared in different character roles in films such as Peruman and Thandavakone and now dons the lead role in director G. Chandrasekhar’s Ivan Yaaro , a suspense thriller. Playing his love interest is Varsha Pandey, who is also doing the lead role in the upcoming film Adhyayam.Ivan Yaaro is the story of two close friends who, due to certain unforeseen circumstances, turn against each other. What leads to this and how the problem gets resolved form the crux. Chandrasekhar has woven exciting elements into the storyline to sustain audience interest. “It is a psychological suspense thriller where the hero is subjected to severe harassment. He is made to believe he is HIV positive and pushed to the brink of suicide. Whether the criminal mind behind this succeeds forms the climax,” says Chandrasekhar.
In quest of love
Brinda and Praveen team up in Porkodi Patham Vaguppu, directed by Pazha Suresh. “The hero who is motherless faces harassment at the hands of his father and aunt. The heroine’s father, a drunkard, terrorises her and her mother. In the face of such problems, both are drawn towards each other. However, the girl restrains herself from expressing her love because of her responsibilities towards her mother. The boy, deprived of mother’s love, is naturally drawn towards the girl who sacrifices so much for her mother’s sake,” says Suresh. Do they unite or does fate have something else in store for them? That’s what Porkodi Patham Vaguppu is all about, says Suresh.
Donning the greasepaint
While Prabhu continued Sivaji Ganesan’s acting legacy, which has now been taken forward by Prabhu’s son Vikram, Ramkumar Ganesan chose to remain in the background taking care of administrative and production responsibilities. So it was a pleasant surprise to hear that Ramkumar will appear in director Shankar’s next, I , for producer Aascar Ravichandran. The film will have music by A. R. Rahman and P. C. Sriram will crank the camera. I will feature Vikram in the lead.
Says Ramkumar, on his decision to act, “When Shankar asked me if I was willing to do a role in his film, I agreed without hesitation. I have not discussed the role or the storyline. When Shankar is involved, I don’t have to bother about these details. I am looking forward to donning the greasepaint. Surely, it will be a different experience.”
Waiting for better roles
It is not just the hero and the heroine who make a film click. There are other actors too who are required to fill the various slots in it. With numerous contenders for such roles, the competition is stiff. Pramodh Govind who did the main role in Thakkali Srinivasan’s Janma Natchathiram opposite Sinduja faced many an obstacle to bag roles. He acted in Mani Ratnam’s Bombay and Evano Oruvan (with Madhavan) before Naan came his way. “I am awaiting the release of Vijay Antony’s Naan where I play a police inspector, and Madan’s Yarada Mahesh , where I play the heroine’s father. Also, in Maatran, I play a scientist,” says Pramodh. Incidentally, his son Krishna has done a role as a special child in Vignesh Menon’s Vinmeengal and has appeared alongside Prasanna and Sneha in an ad commercial for Univercell. “My aim is to do good character roles and play a negative role if I get an opportunity,” says Pramodh.
