Jiiva’s stature in the film industry is growing by leaps and bounds. Post- Nanban , Jiiva is busy completing Mysskin’s Mugamoodi (with Pooja Hegde) and Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Neethane En Ponvasantham (with Samantha). In Neethane…, Jiiva is teamed with comedian Santhanam and the duo is expected to create a laugh riot. “Right from our first film together, Siva Manasula Sakthi , we have developed a great rapport. He is a cool guy and a natural entertainer, both on and off the sets. In Neethane… , our scenes will surely set the screen on fire,” says Jiiva. The actor also raves about working with Gautham Menon. “It’s like Hollywood. He is so organised and meticulous with every detail. And he gives you the freedom to improvise, so long as it falls in line with the script.” Jiiva, who will soon get busy with two other projects, David and Endrendrum Punnagai (with Trisha), is clearly on a high.
Anaa’s adventures
She is still an undergrad, studying business management. She modelled for an ad and was promptly noticed by the talent scouts in the Tamil film industry. Changing her name to Anaa Dixit, she signed on Anjathavan with director Murali J. “I play a village girl. I prefer playing such roles for, I feel, they would give me ample opportunity to showcase my talent. While I am well-versed in Tamil, I have a good knowledge of Hindi too. I hope this will help me land good roles in Bollywood also,” says Anaa. With many films being made as bilinguals, Anaa should not find it difficult to realise her ambition. Anjathavan has Ajai in the lead. The story revolves around the adventures and romantic escapades of the youngsters.
A scribe’s world
Director R. Kannan wields the megaphone in Settai in which Arya is paired with Hansika Motwani. Arya plays a Tamil magazine reporter. Keeping him company in the same publication are Santhanam as photographer and Premgi as cartoonist. Hansika plays an airhostess and Anjali, an English newspaper reporter. “The story revolves around several incidents happening in their personal lives. Instead of reporting on what’s happening in the world at large, reporters like Arya project their own problems as someone else’s with a view to getting them solved. This gives rise to more problems and, sometimes, to hilarious incidents,” says the director.
Sounds interesting
Director Raja has conceived Uyir Mozhi, with DNA as its central theme. His experience as a creative director in an international advertising agency based in South Africa and the interesting association he had with a person who worked in a DNA lab prompted him to take up this theme. “I have traced the evolution of DNA in mankind from the Ice Age onwards. In today’s world, you will not find an Alpha, or the perfect man. The others representing Beta, Delta, Gamma and Omega always strive for the qualities of an Alpha. It is in this context that my film’s characters are created — the focus is largely on the emotional aspect. In my research, I have also found that a Delta man from a European country will differ a lot in his behavioral pattern from his Asian or Indian counterpart,” says Raja . Post production work is on and Uyir Mozhi will soon hit the screens.
