Triple treat

Almost a year after her debut in Azhagiya Pandipuram directed by N. Rayan, Anjena Kirti is awaiting the release of three films. “Of these, Thirandidu Seese releases this month. In this comedy thriller directed by Nimesh Varshan, a former assistant to director Shankar, I play a naïve girl. I am paired with new face Veeravan Stalin. Dhansika too plays an important role,” says Anjena. Next in the pipeline is director Ramesh Venkatraman’s Andhadi . “Immensely talented, he is from Rajiv Menon’s institute. The hero of Andhadi is Arjun Vijayaraghavan. I play the role of an independent, level-headed girl in this.” Directors of Ambuli 3D and Aaah , Hari Shankar and Harish Narayan have completed their third film, Jambulingam 3D, in which Anjena plays a happy-go-lucky girl. “Most of the film has been shot in Japan to give the story a unique flavour. I am paired with Gokul in Jambulingam 3D ,” says an excited Anjena who is presently going through scripts to decide on her next outing.

One for the family

The summer holidays are going to get exciting with Fox Star Studios’ Kaaka Muttai expected to hit screens in the coming weeks. Produced by Dhanush and Vetri Maran, the Manikandan-directed film is all set to capture the hearts of Tamil filmgoers. “I am overwhelmed with the response to the film wherever I go. People’s expectations are high, considering the buzz the film has been creating. It is really a film for the family audiences, with the theme being about children. I want to emphasise this as there is a misconception that it is a ‘children’s film’,” says Manikandan.

Salony is farsighted

Following Sarabham , actor Salony Luthra took up an interesting film that has a twin objective. “ Oliyum Oliyum is about two visually challenged characters who do not let their disability become a hindrance to their lives. In fact, the character I play is that of an independent girl who sells knick-knacks on the roadside. I spent a lot of time actually doing it on the street to get into the skin of the character. Although Oliyum Oliyum is conceived as a full-length feature, we have currently completed a short version of it and plan to release it as a promotional vehicle for eye donation. Simultaneously, work will go on to complete the feature film too. The project is the brain child of Arul Vincent, DOP, and Marks, the film’s director. It features John, an actor from London, as my pair, who also plays a visually challenged character,” says Salony.
