Director S. S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali is progressing at a brisk pace and we found Tamannaah in an upbeat mood on location in Mahabaleshwar. “The character I play in this film is right after my heart. There is so much in her that I dream about being and I am happy at the way the story is evolving,” says Tamannaah. Baahubali is a Telugu film but is expected to be dubbed into Malayalam, Hindi and several foreign languages, according to the makers. National Award winner Sabu Cyril has been given the responsibility to translate the director’s vision into reality, as far as the grand sets are concerned. “After completing Baahubali , I will start my next project in Tamil, which is with actor Arya to be directed by Rajesh,” informs Tamannaah.

One for the family

Director Kannan who is known for his family entertainers is coming up with Oru Oorla Rendu Raja ( OORR ) featuring Vemal and Priya Anand in the lead. Providing the much-required comic interludes is Soori. Says Kannan, whose earlier film was Settai with Arya, Anjali and Hansika Motwani: “This is a road movie — a journey that begins in Tuticorin and ends in Chennai. It was a news item about a real-life incident that inspired me to write this script. There will be a socially relevant message woven into the screenplay. The shooting has just been completed, and post-production work will start with a view to releasing the film on October 2.”

What’s Sathya’s next?

Following the release of Amarakaviyam , Sathya, its hero and brother of Arya, has already started shooting for a unique feature film titled Chennai Singapore . To be filmed extensively in both locations as the title suggests, it is a rom-com where the protagonist from Chennai goes to Singapore in search of better opportunities. He ends up meeting a girl, also originally from Chennai, which leads to a roller-coaster ride of romance and adventure. Sathya is paired with Hebah Patel who played an important role in Thirumanam Enum Nikkah . The story, dialogue and direction are by Abbas Akbar.
