Tale with a twist
Harish Kalyan, who has acted in Aridhu Aridhu and Sindhu Samaveli, is now teaming up with Poonam Kaur in director Rajakarthic’s Guest . Produced by Little Precious Films, Guest is about the unexpected problems that surface in a just-married couple’s life. Says Rajakarthic: “The hero works in a bank, while the heroine in a social service organisation. During an interaction involving the bank and the organisation, the two meet and fall in love. The duo, after being in love for a long time, decide to get married. As fate would have it, a stranger visits them on their wedding night, claiming to know their past and threatens them. The suspense thriller takes place over two days in their house where they are held captive. How do they get out of this situation? Will their lives be the same again? Wait and watch Guest ,” states Rajakarthic.
Raining offers
When she won the Beautiful Face and Smile titles at the Miss Chennai 2006 contest, little did Varsha Ashwathi expect that in six years’ time she would be acting in five films. With not a clue about the film industry, when she was offered a role in Peranmai , she “accepted it just for the heck of it.” “Then, at a film function, I was introduced to Seenu Ramaswamy who offered me a role in Neerparavai . He felt that I could do justice to the IPS officer’s role,” says Varsha. Then, she was signed up for the lead role in Manivannan’s Amaidi Padai 2, “where I play a very positive character with a negative streak; I take revenge on Satyaraj,” says Varsha who is currently shooting for another film, Panivizhum Malar . “In Panivizhum… , I play Malar, a young mother of a four year old. A largely woman-centric subject, the film is directed by David.” That’s not all. Varsha is all set to open her innings in the Malayalam film industry with Don’t Worry Be Happy . “In this film directed by Shaison Ouseph, I play a TV anchor of a reality show involving seven married couples,” reveals Varsha. Although a North Indian by birth, Varsha’s long stay in Tuticorin and Chennai has helped her gain a good command over Tamil.
Love in all seriousness
His track record has been so good that one can expect something out of the ordinary in director Vasanth’s forthcoming film Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal . The audio of the film has just been released. Says Vasanth: “ Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal is a huge film in terms of cast, with a total of 22 actors involved in it. Being a story of three people and their love lives, it had to be this big. There’s Arjun, Cheran and Vimal in the lead. Starring along with them are Surveen, Lasini and Muktha Bhanu. MPMK has been conceived of as a serious love story.” Yet another highlight is the six songs scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. “Two of these are worth mentioning — a song based on Dubstep sung by YSR and a melody rap number by Blaase,” says the filmmaker.
