What it is about…

Vijay Antony Film Corporation, along with Studio 9 and Sri Green Productions, comes out with Salim directed by N.V. Nirmal Kumar. Vijay Antony plays the hero in addition to composing the music. The cast also includes Aksha Pardasany, Asmita, R.N.R. Manohar, Swaminathan, Jothi and Aruldas. Ganesh Chandra is the cinematographer. The first audio CD was released by director Bharathiraja and received by director Bala. The story revolves around a straightforward young man named Salim and the challenges he faces in life. There is a love angle in the film which has a liberal dose of action too.

What they say…

Producer Fathima Vijay Antony : After his first hit Naan , we decided to make another film with my husband Vijay Antony as the hero. We heard a couple of stories and decided to produce Salim as we felt that this film would be apt for him. At this juncture, a couple of my husband’s friends, Suresh of Studio 9 and Saravanan of Sri Green Productions, joined in as co-producers.

Director N.V. Nirmal Kumar: A former assistant of S.A. Chandrasekaran and Bharathiraja, I have done nearly 150 advertisement films. Except Vijay Antony and a few others, those who are playing important roles in the movie are new to Tamil cinema.

Hero and music director Vijay Antony: I have done more than 30 films as music director and this is my second film as an actor. People are asking whether Salim is the second part of Naan, as in both the films the protagonist is from the Muslim community.

You will know it when you watch the film.

Music Highlights: The first on the album is a prayer song from the Holy Quran sung well by Yusuf. Annamalai has written two numbers — they are ‘Unnai Kanda Naal Mudhal’ sung by Supriya Joshi, Hemachandra and Srinivasan and it has a mesmerising effect on the listener. The other one is ‘Ulagam Unnai’ sung by Prabhu Pandala which is sure to win everyone’s hearts. ‘Avalai Nambithan’ written by Gana Bala and sung by Emcee Jesz and Mahalingam is for the front benchers, while ‘Mascara Pottu’ written by Priyan and sung by Supriya Joshi, Sharmila and Vijay Antony is interesting.
