RS Infotainment’s Yaan, produced by Elred Kumar and Jayaraman, and directed by Ravi K. Chandran, is a thriller shot in Morocco. Cameraman Ravi K. Chandran’s directorial debut, it has Jiiva and Thulasi Nair in the lead. Harris Jayaraj has scored the music.

Producers Elred Kumar and Jayaraman: We have made some of the best films in Tamil and this is one of our big-budget projects. We listened to the story at around 10 pm in a city hotel and decided to produce the movie around midnight.
Director Ravi K. Chandran: I wanted to become a director even before I became a cameraman. I first wrote the script of Yaan in English and gave it to Abhishek Bachchan a few years ago. He told me that he had read it. However, I didn’t venture into direction then. Cameraman and director K.V. Anand told me I must take a break from cinematography and only then would I be able to concentrate on direction. That’s exactly what I did and sat down to write the script in Tamil. Now I am glad the film has shaped up well.
Hero Jiiva: After hearing the script from director Ravi, both of us decided to approach producers Eldred Kumar and Jayaraman. Once we got their nod, things fell in place. We shot Yaan in Morocco and other places, including Mumbai.
Music director Harris Jayaraj: Cameraman-turned-director Ravi K. Chandran has a good sense of music. In fact, for one song we waited for nearly a month before deciding to compose it in gana style with modern music. All the songs have come out well.
Music Highlights: The album has five songs. ‘Hey Lamba Lamba’, written by the late Vaalee and sung by Devan Ekambaram and Divya Vijay, provides a good start to the album. The composer has mixed gana with rap for the first time and succeeded in presenting an interesting and energetic number in ‘Aathangara Orathil’ written by Kabilan and sung by Gana Bala and M.C. Vickey (rap).
The same lyricist’s ‘Nenje Nenje’ sung by P. Unnikrishnan and Chinmayi is charming. ‘Latcham Calorie,’ written by Pa. Vijay and sung by Arjun Menon and Chinmayi, is high on melody which is sure to strike a chord with listeners. The last number, ‘Nee Vandhu Ponadhu,’ sung by KK, Bombay Jayashri and Ramya NSK, though lengthy is attractive.
