Music highlights

There are seven songs in the album. ‘Munthanalu Alana Ponnu,’ written by the director, is sung well by Pushpavanam Kuppusamy and Suchithra. There is a remix version of the song with Grace lending the female voice. ‘Iravu Suriyan,’ written by Sridhar, is sung beautifully by Ajees and Renu. There are a couple of numbers, which remind one of the old days as the film spans three generations. ‘Muthukulikka’ is a pleasant song sung by Sabesh and Sathya and written by Muthulingam. Another interesting number by the same lyricist is ‘Va Ponnilave’ sung by Madhu Balakrishnan and Sathya and the same tune gets repeated with different lyrics in ‘Va Pon Magale’. Muthulingam has written the lyrics for ‘Munthanalu Alanasondham’ sung by Prasanna and Sainthavi.

What they say…

Producer G. R. Vijay Sukumaran: I have been in the advertising field from 1996. When I heard this impressive storyline from director Nambirajan, I decided to produce it myself. This is a period film and the narrative links interesting incidents from three different time periods.

Director P.V. Nambirajan: I have been in the industry for the past 30 years. I was introduced as an actor in En Rasavin Manasile and have acted in over 130 films since. I was also involved in the story and screenplay discussion of all of Raj Kiran’s movies. Later, I got to work with directors Kasthuri Raja and Ramarajan. I wanted to become a director, but was waiting for the right break. I thank producer Vijay Sukumaran for this opportunity.

Hero Harikumar: I worked with various dance masters such as Raghuram, Kala, Tarun Kumar and Prabhu Deva. Later, I became a choreographer and worked on over 100 films. I was also interested in acting. I made my debut with Thoothukudi , which I also produced. The film became a hit and I came to be accepted as an actor. Now, I am waiting for the release of Sankarapuram .

Music directors Sabesh-Murali: We started our career under Ilaiyaraaja and Deva. We have worked with many music legends on over 700 films, following which we established ourselves as music directors. We have earned a name for re-recording and have been providing the background score for many leading music directors. The music and the songs of Sankarapuram, our 34th film, have come out well.
