What they say
Producer R. Muthusamy: I come from Pallipalayam (Salem District) and am in the real estate business. I also own a fleet of buses. Director Sathyan, whom I happened to meet, narrated the story of Nandavanakiliye . I liked it and decided to produce it. I play a dual role in the movie too.
Director Sathyan: I am the first video film director to have entered the Tamil film industry in 1983. In 1987, I directed another Tamil film Therodum Veethiyela . Directors Cheran and Sashi were my assistants and A. R. Rahman, the associate music director. My forthcoming film, Nandavanakiliye , posed several challenges during its making, but I am confident of its success.
Hero Madhan: I am rice merchant in Salem District. Nandavanakiliye was shot near my village and as I was interested in acting I met the director who gave me a role in the film. I am happy I was able to pull off the fight sequences successfully.
Music Director K. Rajbhaskar: I am a violinist and have worked under quite a few renowned music directors such as Deva, Sankar Ganesh and A. R. Rahman. I have scored the music for 40 Kannada films, done the re-recording for two Oriya movies, three Bengali, one Bhojpuri, eight Telugu and two Malayalam films. I have dubbed the songs for over 2000 other language films into Tamil and Telugu. This is my first Tamil film and I am happy that the audio is receiving appreciation from all those who have listened to it.
Music highlights
There are five songs in the album. The title song ‘Nandavanakiliye’ sung by Sriram, Hemambika and written by Ka.Vinayagam, stands out. ‘Thaat Boottu Thanjavuru’, written by ‘Watch’ Raja and sung by Jayalakshmi and Ramu, is pleasant. The same singers have rendered ‘Kamban Ezhudiya Kavithai’ along with the music director. Written by Ka.Vinayagam, it makes quite an impact. The director has himself written ‘Kizhakkupakkam Vidiyalukku’ which is well-sung by Sriram and Jayalakshmi, while ‘Thuli Thuliyai Thural’ written by Arjunan and sung by Jagadesh and Hemambika, appeals.
