What they say…
Producer Ravinder Chandrasekaran: I am an NRI based in Switzerland. I became friends with Michael, Nishar Shafi and his friends through social networking. When Venkatesan narrated the story to me on Skype, I loved it. I came to Chennai and began working with them. We have successfully completed the film and I'm sure it will be a hit with the audience.
Director Venkatesan R.: I finished my three-year course at the Chennai Film and Television Institute where my association with this film’s cameraman Nishar Shafi and editor I.J. Alan began. After finishing our course, we parted ways. I went on to assist director Venkat Prabhu on films such as Saroja, Goa and Mankatha and later worked with director Karthik Subbaraj on his film Jigarthanda. When I was with Karthik I got this offer from Ravinder Chandrasekaran.
Hero Michael: After my stint on the small screen — Kanakanum Kalangal,Jodi No.1 season 3, and Boys Vs Girls — I did a role with actor Jai in Amma Creations’ Kanimozhi . This is my first break as a solo lead. I thank my friend cameraman Nishar Shafi for this opportunity.
Music director Ashwath: I did my M.Sc. in Electronic Media and worked with NDTV Hindu for nearly four years. Then I composed music for jingles, short films and teleserials. I worked under music director Vishal Bharadwaj for some time.
Music Highlights: The album opens with ‘Kadhal Veesum Kaatril’ written by Karky, a beautiful, soothing melody sung by Unnikrishnan, Pop Shalini and Sowmya Mahadevan. ‘Vaadagai Koodu’ by the same lyricist comes like a breath of fresh air in the voices of SPB Charan and Shreya Goshal — a totally repeat-worthy track. Vijay Prakash does complete justice to ‘Gummunu Varuguthu,’ a mass number with a folk touch. The lines are by Gangai Amaran. ‘Thoongama’ is a touching song written by Niranjan Bharathi and sung by Balaram, Chinmayi and Rasika Shekar. The debut composer showcases his potential in this track with neat orchestration. Another song by the same lyricist, ‘Sala Sala,’ follows in the intense voice of Shankar Mahadevan; here he is joined by another singer Sachin Warrier. The last on the album is ‘Veetukkulla Vaanavillu,’ an unplugged track written by Karky. Though sounds like ‘Vaadagai Koodu,’ it has different words and is rendered by a fresh bunch of singers — Deepak, Madhumitha and Swathi Ravichandran.
