What they say

Producers PL Babu, PL Subbu: We are distant relatives of Kaviarasar Kannadasan and hail from his native place Sirukoodalpatti. We are distributors for the Salem area and also own a theatre there. We produced programmes for the small screen and this is our first feature film. We have great expectations from Marumunai which we think is a well-made film. We thank STR (Silambarasan) for singing a song in the film.

Director Mariesh Kumar: I worked as an assistant to directors K. Bhagyaraj and R. Pandiarajan and have written a lot of short stories in various publications. I have also written scripts for serials. When Marumunai came my way, I was thrilled. I must thank the producers for helping in every way possible, and that is why we could wrap-up the film in a record time.

Hero Maruthi: I am a student of visual communication and it’s my father Nellai M.Vasanthan who encouraged me to enter this field. I worked as an assistant to directors ‘Yaar’ Kannan and Vikraman. One day, director Vikraman made me come before the camera and my journey as an actor began. Director Mariesh Kumar then offered me the hero’s role in Marumunai . I liked the story and also the way it has been handled.

Music director Sathyadev: After doing a course at the SAE School of Audio Engineering, I learnt music from Prem Kumar and worked as a sound engineer. When I got the opportunity to do the musical score for Marumunai , I was determined to come up with songs that appeal to all age groups.

Music Highlights: There are only four songs in this album. ‘Vazhkaithan’, written and sung by Gana Bala is the best of the lot. ‘Penne Penne’ written by the director and sung by Silambarasan and Chinmayi makes for a good listening too. ‘Kadhal Endru’ stands out for its lyrics (by Piraisoodan) and is sung by Velmurugan. ‘Ivan Thano Margazhi’ written by Pazhani Bharathi and sung by Alap Raju is another nice number.
