What it is about…

Girija Productions’ Madhavanum Malarvizhiyum is produced by S. Saravanan and the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Masil. Aswin is the hero, while Sija Ross and Neeraja are the heroines. Ponnambalam plays an important role. The lyrics are penned by Ravindran and the music is scored by Vasanthamani. How a dancer couple separates and the ensuing problems faced by the woman who believes dance is everything is what the story is about. The audio was released by director V.C. Guhanathan and received by director Keeyar.

Music highlights

There are four songs in the film. ‘Idhayam Alaimodhudhe’ is a solo rendered beautifully by Anuradha Sriram. ‘Bel Perija,’ sung by Haricharan, ‘Adada Jimkhana,’ sung by music director Sabesh (Murali), and ‘Sindhu Nadhiyil,’ sung by Vijay Yesudas and Malaysia Priya, are the other attractive numbers.

What they say…

Producer S. Saravanan: I am in the construction and real estate business. When director Masil came to me with the story, I was happy that it could be made into an absorbing film with Bharatanatyam as its base. Director Masil: After finishing my B.Ed., I realised that my heart was in film direction. I called on many production houses in the hope of getting a chance. One day I met producer Saravanan and discussed a storyline with him. Though he liked it, he didn’t green-light the project immediately. Again after a year, he called me for a narration. This time, things fell in place. We went to Kodaikanal for the shoot.

Hero Aswin: In my first film, Onbathu Roobai Nottu , directed by Thankar Bachchan, I played Sathyaraj’s grandson. Then came Narthagi , in which I played the lead. Impressed with my acting skills, director Masil cast me in the role of the protagonist in this film. I think this film will prove to be a real break for me.

Music director Vasanthamani: I was an assistant to music director Sirpi. Then I scored the music for Gurusamy , a devotional film, and another in Badaga language. I am a friend of director Masil and lyricist Ravindran. We were keen on working together and Madhavanum Malarvizhiyum gave us the opportunity. We have finished the film and are sure of its success.
