There is something strange about this album which is titled Madha Yaanai Koottam and Other Hits . Sony Music has picked 40 songs from various films, compiled them along with the songs of this film and released it as an MP3. In the absence of the names of the singers or the lyricist on the album cover, we learn from music director N. R. Raghunanthan that Ekadasi has penned the songs of Madha Yaanai Koottam . The first six songs in the album are from the film of which ‘Kona Kondakkari,’ sung by G. V. Prakash Kumar, is the best. ‘Unnai Vanangatha’ sung by Velmurugan sounds nice without the background score. ‘Kombu Oothi’ is a fine, folksy number sung by Pushpavanam Kuppusamy, Anand and the director. Thanjai Selvi has rendered ‘Enge Pora’, a riveting number, while Haricharan and Monali Thakur team up for ‘Yaro Yaro.’ ‘Mukulathu’ sung by Thiruvudaiyan wraps up the album.

Producer G.V. Prakash Kumar: I am always passionate about films. I wanted to learn about each and every department of filmmaking. When I floated my own film company, Vikram Sukumaran, whom I know from my earlier associations, came to me with this storyline. I found it interesting and decided to fund it. Madha Yaanai Koottam showcases the beauty of Theni in a never-before-seen way.
Director Vikram Sukumaran: I worked as an assistant of cameraman-director Balu Mahendra on his serial Kathai Neeram and later on his film Juli Ganapathy . Then I joined director Vettrimaran and worked on Polladhavan and wrote the dialogues for the award-winning Aadukalam . I became friendly with G.V. Prakash Kumar, who was the music director of these films. When I came to know that Prakash was venturing into production, I told him this story and he liked it. Madha Yaanai Koottam is set in a village in Theni and for the first time I have shown some of their customs and rituals such as ‘Marga Kalyanam’ done in a traditional way. The film has love, sentiment and action.

Music director N.R. Raghunanthan: This is my fifth film after Thenmerku Paruvakkatru, Krishnaveni Panchalai, Sundarapandian and Neerparavai . After this, I have Pulival, Sivappu and a couple of untitled projects in the pipeline.
