What it is about…
Suma Pictures’ Kerala Nattilam Pengaludane is produced by S. Annushaa Dhevi. The story, screenplay, direction and music are by S.S. Kumaran. Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics. The cast includes Abi, Gayathri, Abirami, Dikshitha, Gnanasambantham and Renuga. The film depicts the culture of Kerala in an interesting way with a beautiful love story woven into it. The audio was released by Vairamuthu and received by G.V. Prakash Kumar, James Vasanthan and Rajeev Menon.
Music highlights
There are five songs in the film and ‘Kerala Poloru,’ sung by Jassie Gift, S.S. Kumaran and Kalyani Menon, is surely the best. Kerala is called ‘God’s own country’ because of its natural beauty. This beauty is captured well in the lyrics. The song is hummable with the rhythmic words “Thai Thinthaka Thinthaka Thom,Thai Thinthaka Thinthaka Thom.” The music director has combined sax strains with chenda, a popular Kerala instrument, in the song. ‘Hello Yaradhu,’ sung by Mohit Chauhan, is a catchy tune rendered in western style. The same song, repeated by Vijay Prakash, wraps up the album. Acoustic and rhythm guitars have been used. The mouth organ lends the song a fresh feel. ‘Kollai Azhage,’ sung by Vijay Prakash and Roop Kumar Rathod, is a rhythm-based song where the tabla predominates. The song beautifully conveys the feelings of a person in love. ‘Angalai Nambathe’ is sung by Javed Ali and Latin percussion instruments and Africa’s popular darbuka have been used effectively.

Producer S. Annushaa Dhevi: I did my post-graduation in HR and am passionate about films. When my husband, a music director, decided to direct a movie, we launched our production house, Suma Pictures. We gained a lot of experience making our first film. This enabled us to handle our second production, Kerala Nattilam Pengaludane, in a planned way.
Director and music director S.S. Kumaran: I scored the music for hits such as Poo and Kalavani . My first directorial venture, Theneer Viduthi, helped me explore all the aspects of filmmaking. Kerala Nattilam Pengaludane has been entirely shot in Kerala. I am sure the film will make the people of Kerala and Tamil Nadu proud.
Hero Abi: After finishing my engineering, I started scouting for a chance to act in films. When I met the producer and the director of this film, they asked me to audition for the role. I was thrilled to land the hero’s role. I could learn a lot from the director who has both practical and theoretical knowledge of filmmaking.
