Music Highlights

The soundtrack has four songs. Music director James Vasanthan’s compositions strike the right note with one and all. The album opens with an appealing kuthu number by Shankar Mahadevan ‘Koothadikkuthu,’ written by Mohan Raj. The same lyricist’s ‘Ennasolla Ethusolla’ sung by Nivas is pleasing. Hariharan and Pooja come together to render ‘Manasula,’ a beautiful duet written by Yugabharathi. ‘Enna Enna Edhu’ stands out for its lyrics by Thamarai; sung by Sai Sudha and Jai, the song will make you reach for the rewind button.

What they say…

Producers Gnana Desh Ambedkar and Selvi Rajendran: The story of Azhagu Magan impressed both of us and we’re sure that it will click at the box office. Selvi Rajendran’s son Uday has played the hero and he has done a good job.

Director Azhagan Selva: After gaining considerable experience assisting directors “Yaar” Kannan and P.R. Vijayalakshmi, I have made this film. I spotted Uday, the hero, at Koothu-p-Pattarai. I felt he would fit the hero’s character to a T. And he has proved me right. The film has come out well and we’re eager to see the audience response to it.

Hero Uday: I am an engineer. Keen to make it big in the film industry, I came to Chennai and joined Koothu-p-Pattarai and was with them for nearly a year. When I was there, I got introduced to director Azhagan Selva. We had a story discussion session following which my mother and the director’s friend Gnana Desh Ambedkar decided to jointly produce Azhagu Magan.

Music director James Vasanthan: I have scored the music for some village-centric films and Azhagu Magan is also on these lines. The director wanted good background score for his film and enchanting duets. Two Malaysian singers, Jai and Sai Sudha, have rendered one of the duets. I feel the film will hit the bull’s eye at the box office as it has good visuals and interesting twists and turns.
