Music highlights

There are seven songs in the album and ‘Padu Padu,’ which comes first on the album is also the best of the lot. Sung beautifully by Padmalatha, it’s written by Viveka. All the other songs are written by Yugabharathi. ‘Yei Oru Podhum Unmel’ sung by Pavan and Gayatri is interesting. ‘Thoongatha Bhoologam’ sung by Harini follows. Uma Ramanan makes a comeback with ‘Ennaithandi Engepovai,’ which is sweet. ‘Pandekira’ is sung well by Shaji. ‘Velli Sevvai Viradam’ is rendered by Velmurugan. ‘Amma Unnaipola,’ sung by Poornima, wraps up the album in a poignant manner.

What they say…

Producer K.G. Pandian: I am from the real estate business. Never did I think I would enter films. When director A.K. Kalaimani narrated the storyline of the movie, I liked it, mainly because of its strong message. I have also played an important role in the movie which, I feel, has all the ingredients to succeed at the box office.

Director R.K. Kalaimani: I have worked under various directors, Arjun, Singeetam Srinivasa Rao and B.R. Vijayalakshmi to name a few. After gaining considerable experience, I directed films such as Thai Porandhachu, Super Kudumbam and Engal Asan . For Apple Pennae , I have worked hard on the screenplay which is packed with thrilling moments. Hero Vatsan: After finishing a course in Visual Communication at St. Thomas College, Chennai, I started scouting for roles. I enacted small roles in Engeyum Eppodum and Vathikuchi . When I met producer K.G. Pandian, he offered me this role. Asked why he chose to cast me as the hero, he was quick to say that nobody recommended my name and that he liked my performances in my earlier films. Do I need to say I was thrilled?

Music director Mani Sharma: I have scored the music for some of the best films in Tamil such as Shahjahan, Youth, Pokkiri, Padikathavan and Malai Malai . I am happy to have taken up this film, for it’s not just the story that was interesting, the director also gave me space to showcase my talent in re-recording. All the songs in the film have come out well.
