Here’s news from the Vishwaroopam 2 camp. The film’s sequel will see Bollywood veteran Waheeda Rahman play Kamal Haasan’s mother. And, M. Ghibran will compose the music for the film. Meanwhile, we hear that the film has reached its final stages of production and that it’s gearing up for a November release. Well, let’s wait and watch.

Family time

Guess who’s making use of a well-deserved break? Since two of his projects — one each by Lingusamy and Gautham Vasudev Menon — needed a little time to take off, actor Suriya is off on a vacation with his family. Says the actor, “Both of them are gifted filmmakers, and are working on their scripts right now. I’ll run back to work the minute I get a call from them. Till then, it’s happy time with the family, particularly my two kids.”

Donning the greasepaint

There’s an addition to the long list of actors’ children donning the greasepaint — Deepak Rajesh, son of veteran Rajesh. The 26-year-old enters the industry with Payanangal Thodarkindrana , produced by M.G. Srikumar and directed by Dheshwin Prem. The unit recently met Kamal Haasan. Says Deepak, “I was tongue-tied in the presence of the star. But he made us comfortable by asking us to talk about ourselves. After the meeting, I’m more confident about facing the camera.”

A moving gesture

Actor Ajith Kumar recently bought a piece of land on OMR for his staff — cooks, the gardener, the driver and the maids — and had it registered in their names. Since the actor was away shooting for Veeram, the bhoomi puja was performed in the presence of the actor’s wife Shalini. Now, that’s what we call a laudable gesture!
