The ‘Mozart of Madras’ gives preference to Tamil films over those of other languages. Here’s proof to support this claim. He was to score music for the English language film Seventh Son directed by Sergei Bodrov scheduled for a 2014 release. However, A.R. Rahman recently tweeted ‘due to schedule incompatibility, I will not be scoring the music for the Hollywood movie Seventh Son . All other movies are on in full swing’. A few of the projects he’s working on include Maryan , Kochadaiyaan , I , Kaaviya Thalaivan and Dhruva Natchathiram , in addition to a few in Hindi.
Brothers in arms
The Tamil industry has quite a few brothers — think Suriya-Karthi, Jiiva-‘Jithan’ Ramesh… The latest to join the list is STR’s brother Kuralarasan. However, the lad wants to compose music for the film — to be produced by his brother and likely to be directed by Pandiraj. We hear STR will sing a song for the film.
Dosa calling
Apparently, actor Vijay is fond of Mohanlal. And, his dosas! The Malayalam star plays godfather to Vijay in Super Good Films’ Jilla, and it seems the two have been getting closer to each other. It is said that they spend a lot of time chatting in their caravans, and Mohanlal treats Vijay to dosas that he prepared himself. Small wonder Vijay is a fan of not just Mohanlal the actor but Mohanlal the cook too!
Call a film by any name…
Ajith has two films coming up, and neither of them is titled yet. Rumour has it that there’s a brisk guessing game going on in the industry. A little birdie tells us that Ajith’s 53rd film directed by Vishnu Vardhan and produced by A.M. Rathnam has been titled Paravai . Interestingly, it was earlier titled Valai . The film, which will see Ajith play an IT hacker, also includes Nayantara, Arya and Taapsee. The music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The other film without a title yet is produced by Vijaya Productions and directed by ‘Siruthai’ Siva.
