Filmmaker Bala will produce Vasanthakumaran, featuring actor Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. The actor says he’s happy to work for Bala’s production company, and hopes to work under Bala’s direction too.

The film, said to be a family entertainer set in the backdrop of romance, will be directed by Anand Kumaresan, who worked as an associate in films such as Sema Ragalai. The film’s line producer is Suresh Kalanjiyam of Studio Nine.

So, who’ll make it? And for which films? It’s that time of the year when the film fraternity and film lovers collectively wait with bated breath for a certain announcement. The announcement of winners at the upcoming 61st National Film Awards. Over 30 Tamil films — big and small — are vying with each other for the prestigious award under various categories. The list includes Thanga Meenkal, Vidiyum Munn, Goli Soda, Maryan, Moodar Koodam, Moondru Per Moondru Kadhal, Onaaiyum Aattukuttiyum, Pandiya Nadu, Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum, Raja Rani, Ramanujan, Soodhu Kavvum, Thalaimuraigal, Annakodi, Chandra, David, Ethir Neechal, Haridas and Kadal.

Thanga Meenkal, Thalaimuriagal, Ramanujan and Inam are going to win
major awards.
