Following his debut in the critically acclaimed Kumki , Vikram Prabhu has been signed for three films — Ivan Vera Maadhiri, Sigaram Thodu and Arima Nambi . Director N. Lingusamy’s Thirrupathi Brothers’ production Ivan Vera Maadhiri , directed by M. Saravanan is expected to be released in November or December. For Vikram, his experience with directors as diverse as Prabhu Solomon, Saravanan, Gaurav Narayanan (Sigaram Thodu) and Anand Shankar (Arima Nambi) will be an enriching one in his budding career.

Beats of the heart

She was introduced in director Venkatesh’s Summa Nachunu Irukku . Bangalore-girl Archana has followed it up with director Selva’s Naadi Thudikkuthadi in which she is paired with Subin. “This is a romantic movie with a bit of sentiment. Selva has shot most of the film in the Fiji Islands, which lends itself to the love story. I play a middle-class girl who falls in love with a rich guy,” says Archana who has two duets with Subin and a solo song, among the five melodious numbers composed by Ilaiyaraaja. “I will wait for the release of Naadi Thudikkuthadi before I take on a new project. Since it’s my mother tongue, I definitely want to do a few films in Kannada too. But, I would like to establish myself in Kollywood before exploring other languages,” the actor says.

Looking up

Director Tarun Gopi’s forthcoming film Soodhaatam in which he also does the lead role, was launched recently. Present on the occasion was the leading lady of the film, ‘Kaadhal’ Sandhya. This year has been a busy one for Sandhya as she has done four Malayalam films. Besides these is the just-released Tamil film Ya Yaa . Says Sandhya, “My role in Ya Yaa has been appreciated; it’s very encouraging. In Soodhaatam , I play a girl just out of school and in love with the hero, Tarun Gopi. The film is about gambling and the friendship among the players. There is a love-triangle with Ramana being the other person. Being a rural subject, we are shooting in and around Madurai for some of the songs and other sequences. The script is quite interesting and I love my character,” says Sandhya.
