Just like his uncle A.R. Rahman, music composer G.V. Prakash Kumar too has ventured in to film production. His GV Prakash Kumar Productions will produce Madhayaanai Koottam directed by Vikram Sukumaran who was an associate of Balu Mahendra. The film features Kadhir and Oviya in the lead. Curiously, the music is being scored by N.R. Raghunandan. “I didn’t want to impose myself on the production. It is Vikram’s baby, and I have full faith in him and the script,” says Prakash Kumar. MK is said to be about two families in a rural setting, portraying the customs, culture and traditions that bind them together. Says Prakash Kumar, “Vikram has come up with a story that has rural, ethnic and native touches with a thriller background. We are aiming at showcasing the film to audiences worldwide.” As for his own musical projects, the composer says, “I am very excited at the way the songs in Raja Rani have come about, especially the background score. In Hindi, I have completed Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly, and that is a great step for me in Bollywood.”

From playing a village girl in Kollaikkaaran and a girl prone to hallucination in Soodhu Kavvum to a girl-next-door in Pizza II — Villa , Sanchita Shetty has explored many facets of acting. “In … Villa , my role gives me a lot of scope to showcase my capabilities as an actor. I play a character named Aarti,” says Sanchita Shetty. This Tulu girl has also acted in Kannada and Telugu films. … Villa is a sequel to the successful Pizza , and is directed by Deepan Chakravarthy. It starts off at a particular point from the first film and is shot entirely in Puducherry. Sanchita Shetty is teamed with Vaibhav in this sequel.
Anand’s next
His transition from cinematographer to an accomplished director has been smooth with the success of films such as Kana Kandein , Ayan , Ko and Maattrraan . K.V. Anand’s forthcoming project is AGS Entertainment’s Anegan in which he will be directing Dhanush for the first time. Anand has paired him with Mumbai girl Amyra. The film will also have Karthik in an important role. The duo Suba, a permanent fixture in Anand’s camp, will write the dialogues. The unit has started the filming in Puducherry, and will move to foreign locations, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Bolivia. So, what is the film about? Anand is tight-lipped. As usual!
