Director K. Balachander has over 100 films to his credit. He has also appeared in a few films — Kalki (1996), Poi (2006) and the fairly recent Rettaisuzhi (2010) in which he joined another popular director Bharathiraja in the lead. And, there’s news that we’ll see the veteran once again on the big screen. And this time, the guru (mentor) will join hands with his sishya (disciple) Kamal Haasan. The director will play an important role in the actor’s forthcoming movie Uthama Villain , said to be based on the life of an actor. Crazy Mohan will pen the dialogues for this comedy film.

It’s time to think

Think Music is all set to release a CD of the original sound track (OST) of director Suseenthiran’s recent film Pandia Nadu . And the film’s music composer D. Imman is thrilled. “I’m happy; the film deserves it. The CD will have around 50 minutes of music. This trend will be a boon to music lovers, composers and music companies,” says the music director.

New team

Director Seenu Ramasamy’s award-winning film Thenmerkku Paruvakkaatru fetched Vairamuthu a National Award for his lyrics. Now the director has roped in the famed lyricist for his next venture too. Idam Porul Yeval will feature Vijay Sethupathi and Vishnu in the lead. The music is to be scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the film will be produced by Thirrupathi Brothers. It will be the first time that Vairamuthu and Yuvan Shankar Raja join hands.
