A course at Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares institute in Mumbai had helped Prithiksha Mythili honed her flair for acting, so much so she landed a unique role in director Arunachalam’s soon-to-be released Adiyan . Prithiksha plays a 16-year-old child bride in the film. She says, “I am married off to my mother’s brother who is 35 years old. The story takes place during the first two months of marriage, and the entire action is within the confines of a room. The script talks about the consequences of child marriage in some communities where it is practised to keep the wealth within the family. Little thought is given to the emotions of the girl who is the biggest sufferer. I quite like the way the two characters — the only ones in the film — are etched and the fact that the film sends out a strong message to the world,” says Prithiksha who has almost been signed up for her second film.

Arjun’s hectic schedule

After returning from a long shooting schedule in Bangkok where he shot some exciting action sequences for his forthcoming Tamil film Jai Hind 2 ( Abhimanyu, in Kannada), producer-director and the film’s hero, Arjun, is headed to Mumbai for another 20-day schedule. Just back in Chennai, Arjun was preparing to travel to the U.K. for another shooting session, when bad weather in that country curtailed his plans. “It has thrown a spanner in the works, so I think I will now travel to the Philippines. I plan to shoot a couple of song sequences there; something which has not been attempted before,” informs Arjun. Following this, will be another long schedule in Chennai which will hopefully complete the talkie portions. Meanwhile, Arjun has made a teaser-trailer for internal viewing which has breathtaking romantic and action scenes involving him and his heroine Surveen Chawla.

Nandaa-Ananya in Cocktail remake

Nandaa and Nikesh Ram play the hero and second lead respectively in director Bharathan’s Athithi , a remake of the Malayalam hit Cocktail . Keeping Nandaa company is Ananya, who was last seen in Seedan and Nadodigal . Incidentally, Nikesh Ram is also the producer of the film under his banner Spellbound Films Inc which has bought the remake rights of Cocktail in Tamil and Telugu. Director Bharathan’s last outing was Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, starring Vijay and Sriya Saran. He has also penned the dialogues for director Siva’s forthcoming Pongal release Veeram, starring Ajith Kumar.
