The Prestige

The Prestige

The Prestige

Christopher Nolan

Although the Batman trilogy overshadows Nolan’s previous works, The Prestige is by far, one of the most brilliant works by this exceptional director-screenwriter. The unparalleled rivalry between two magicians paves the way for Nolan to prove his magic yet again! Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman pack quite a punch with their performances. As the film suggests, sacrifice, is the price of a good trick.

300

Zack Snyder

King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) embarks on an epic yet fateful journey to defeat Xerxes. Both the plot and the actors’ performances (especially Gerard Butler’s) excel. The rage in Butler’s eyes, the fury in his voice and the violence in his actions deserve applause.

Fight Club

David Fincher

This work of art doesn’t need introduction. An epic story with wonderful acting and enough twists to keep you glued. The protagonist plays an insomniac who has a chance encounter with Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), who’s apparently, the antithesis of the insomniac. Together, they start the Fight Club. The twists and turns ahead and the catchy quotes make for an unforgettable experience.

The Pursuit Of Happyness

Gabriele Muccino

What would you do, if you had nothing? Will Smith plays an estranged and broke man struggling to make ends meet, along with his son Christopher (Jaden Smith). Good direction along with some great performances make this a must on your watch list. Inspired by a true story, this movie is a real tear-jerker.

I Am Legend

Francis Lawrence

One world. One survivor. Voted by many as one of the best zombie movies of all time, this movie portrays human emotions wonderfully. Dr. Robert Neville (Will Smith) along with his dog Samantha set out on finding a cure for the Krippin Virus, which has literally annihilated the world, leaving behind a trail of death and the living dead. Brilliant acting and a taut screenplay make this an awesome thriller.

Those that almost made it:

Pulp Fiction: Quentin Tarantino

The Shawshank Redemption: Frank Darabont

The Dark Knight: Christopher Nolan

Gladiator: Ridley Scott

Inception: Christopher Nolan
