Born in Trichur, Kerala, the fair six footer artiste is making his debut in Telugu films this year. Shooting for the yet to be titled film has begun; it is being directed by Chinni Enuganti who had earlier directed Dasami with Sivaji. Armed with a degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA, Rajith looks and sounds very confident. “Language is not a barrier, all I am interested in is good roles. I want to make it big here, I have even started learning Telugu seriously. Here people accept all kinds of films, there is a market for everything,” he quips. Rajith had worked in ten Malayalam and two Tamil films. Newcomer Trishala who did a Marathi and a Hindi film is his co-star in this Telugu movie.
Experienced actor debuts
Alisha may be new to Telugu movies but not to the camera. She had worked in Zinda as Sanjay Dutt’s daughter and in Andaz as the Junior Lara Dutta and also as Anil Kapoor and Sridevi’s daughter. The attractive lady avers, “I haven’t worked in any films after that. I’ve been into commercials since I was a six months old. My first advertisement was Cerelac and then Huggies. Basically it started off with my sister..she did over a hundred commercials and I followed her. My dad is an editor, sister works for NDTV Good Times, so everyone in our family is in the media.” But how did she bag Basanti directed by Chaitanya Dantuluri? “Two or three days after I was called for an audition, I got a call and they said I was selected. In the movie I play a Muslim girl.” Alisha has seen many Telugu films, but Mahesh’s Murari happens to be her favourite.
Out of wilderness
After doctors and software engineers, an auditor takes up acting as an alternate career and is quite successful balancing both the jobs. Having made his debut in Young India and in Case Number 666, Anurag Parvataneni did a small role in Prema Katha Chitram but now is keen on being a full time actor. “I am open to doing bold roles and ones with grey shades; acting is my passion,” he says. His latest acting stint is in a short film Waiting In Wilderness by Vinayak which is about issues concerning alternate sexuality. He elaborates, “LGBT community is lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender community. The director dedicated this film to his friend who is gay. Marthand K Venkatesh is the editor. The film made with a Rs. 25 lakh budget has an international appeal, and can be accepted by sensible people. It is only available as a paid preview on the website.”
