Saranya Mohan in Kolahalam

Saranya Mohan in Kolahalam

It was Yaradee Nee Mohinee (Dhanush-Nayantara starrer) that brought Malayalam actor Saranya Mohan into the limelight with two best supporting actress awards. Saranya followed it up with several Tamil films, notable among them being Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Eeram . Saranya has two films slated for release this year — Suyam and Kaadhalai Thavira Verondrum Illai which are in their post-production stage. Besides, she is busy with Thakkali, a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual, and Badlapur Boys , her Bollywood debut. “ Thakkali has yesteryear actress Jayabharathi’s son Krish J. Sathar and Shekar Menon as my co-stars. Badlapur Boys is the Hindi remake of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu.Badlapur Boys. Directed by Shailaesh Varma, Nishan plays Vishnu’s role in it. Meanwhile, in Tamil, I have completed Kolahalam and I understand the audio is about to be released,” informs Saranya.

Simhaa is busy

Following his notable role in Soodhu Kavvum as Pagalavan, actor Simhaa played the antagonist in Neram . Pizza Now, the actor has Karthik’s Jigarthanda and Badri’s Aadama Jayichomada in the pipeline. Says Simhaa: “ Jigarthanda , as the name suggests, has everything in the right measure to make it a total entertainer. It also features Siddarth and Lakshmi Menon. Aadama… is a thriller with a liberal dose of humour in it. We plan to go on floors this month-end and I have Karunakaran and Vijayalakshmi as my co-stars.”

Dharanidharan’s debut

Director Dharanidharan’s stint with Susi Ganesan (during the making of Kandasamy) and his qualification in digital filmmaking from New York are helping his career in a big way. The shooting for his debut film, Burma , produced by Square Stone Films, has just got off to a flying start. “I have cast Michael Thangadurai ( Nalanum Nandiniyum ) and Reshmi Menon ( Inithu Inithu ) along with Atul Kulkarni and Sampath in it. Burma is the name of the lead character and I have set the film in North Chennai. The influence is partly the Burma Bazar area. The story is about a car financier who employs arm-twisting methods to recover his loans, Burma being one of his main henchmen. We are shooting mostly in live locations in and around North Chennai for authenticity. A BMW and a Mini Cooper are stars in their own right in the film,” informs Dharanidharan.
