A still from 'Romeo and Juliet'.

Following the success of Nimirndhu Nil , Jayam Ravi awaits the release of Bhoologam this month. Meanwhile, Ravi is busy shooting for his brother M. Raja’s Thani Oruvan . “I cannot reveal much about this, but would like to talk about another film I am doing simultaneously. Director Lakshmanan’s Romeo and Juliet is a realistic love story with a lot of comedy elements. Hansika Motwani is my leading lady and the two of us are a riot in the film. Meanwhile, I have just signed director Suraj’s next film, after his Alex Pandian . Set in a village and being a rom-com, the film is bound to have a few action scenes. The production unit is yet to finalise the title as well as the heroine,” informs Ravi.

Sandalwood to Kollywood

Her debut was in the Kannada film Saarathi (in 2011). She quickly followed it up with Paramathma, Jaanu, Endendu Ninagagi and Sakkare , all in Kannada. Now Deepa Sannidhi will play Shruthi Hassan’s role in the Tamil remake of the Kannada film, Lucia . “This film, in which I am paired with Siddarth, is almost complete. My character is similar to the original in Lucia . Meanwhile, director Vishnuvardhan has signed me for Yatchan in which my co-star is Arya. I am not at liberty to reveal much about my character except to say that it is quite modern with a traditional twist. I am confident that both these films will establish my presence in the Tamil film industry,” says Deepa.

Looking for roles of substance

His first film as hero, Athu Vera Ithu Vera (AVIV), has just released although Varshan was seen as a second lead in Nanbargal Gavanathirku , a while ago. “AVIV has brought me into the limelight and I am now reading some scripts to decide on my next film. I like to do experimental, performance-oriented roles, rather than run-of-the-mill ones. That’s where I will be able to showcase my acting abilities,” says Varshan whose father, Jayamani is a popular comedy actor. “Bala and Vasanthabalan are my favourite directors and I would love to act in their films,” states Varshan who went through extensive training in dance, stunts and acting in Koothu-p-Pattarai.
