She has acted in Aval Paer Thamizharasi , Thandavakone and Netru Indru , besides doing guest roles in Neer Paravai and Veeram . Manochitra’s debut film in Malayalam, Pianist, is now being remade in Tamil as Oru Vaanavil Poley ( OVP ). “This is an interesting role. My character in the film starts off as a stage singer, wins international recognition and becomes a professional singer. OVP is a musical love story in which my co-star is Anu Mohan,” says Manochitra who is currently busy with two Telugu films. “In both — Malligadu Marriage Bureau and Nattukodi — I am paired with Srikant. This is my first foray into Telugu and I hope to make a mark there too,” says Manochitra.
Let down by lofty ideals?
This is a new genre — philosophical comedy! The hero faces successive failures both in his career and love life. “This is primarily due to his philosophical ways and lofty ideals. Hence, he is unable to cope with normal work situations and people. It leads him to contemplate suicide, not wanting to compromise on the values he believes in. In a last ditch effort, he decides to experiment by setting aside his philosophical ways and employing certain methods to retain a job. Does he succeed or does he head towards self-destruction? Andava Kapathu deals with this predicament of the protagonist,” explains director Lebin who has cast Harish and Alisha in the lead roles, supported by Nizhalgal Ravi, Nellai Siva and Kovai Senthil. Andava Kapathu is ready for release.
Uru Meen, Simhaa’s next
His current film Jigarthanda , directed by Kartik Subbaraj, is awaiting release. Meanwhile, Simhaa has just completed his first shot for a new film, Uru Meen . “This is directed by Sakthivel Perumalsamy and I play a middle-class person in search of a job. I am paired with a new face, Athithi, in Uru Meen. After acting in films such as Soodhu Kavvum, Pizza, Neram and Jigarthanda, the character in Uru Meen will be a new experience for me,” says Simhaa.
