Director Sanjayram has conceived Kutralam as a family entertainer with an abundant dose of comedy. Vaali plays the lead role of Mayilsami while the director takes on the second hero’s character, Maadusami. It is the story of these two men who are out to con people visiting Kutralam. There, they come across two sisters played by Meenu and Swugandhi. There is total confusion when love happens between the two men and the sisters; hilarious sequences follow. To add to the fun, music composer Stephen Royal recently recorded the promotional song ‘Kadala kandupudichavan yaaru’ featuring a young team of singers. “This will go a long way in setting the right note for the film’s release,” says Sanjayram.
Producer P. Madan says that his forthcoming untitled film, directed by Jeeva Shankar, is “a beautiful love story ever told”. After the success of Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, Madan’s Escape Artist Motion Pictures is trying to bring back the romance genre, in the wake of the recent trend of action and comedy films. Madan feels that Yuvan Shankar Raja’s mesmerising tunes will be the highpoint of the film. According to director Jeeva, “There are five songs in this teenage love story, set in the 1988 Ooty and Coimbatore. I am in the process of finalising the cast.”
New girl in K-town
Ever since the success of Pizza, there has been a spate of thriller films from a fresh crop of directors who have found willing producers to back their efforts. Debut director Koushik found one such producer in N. K. Craft and RSR for his forthcoming Adiyum Andamum. New face Kavita Srinivasan is paired with Ajay. Kavita, a Tamil by birth, grew up abroad and has done a course in acting in Los Angeles. Kavita is also doing a Hindi film directed by Shridhar Tilve. Besides, her Tamil/Telugu film Kalicharan is complete and awaiting release.
Twists in the tale
Director Suresh P. Kumar says Manathil Maayam Seithai talks about love in modern times and the ups and down a relationship goes through. Telugu actor Prince plays the lead role supported by Sethu. And featured opposite them are Disha Pandey and Richa Panai. Sethu who was waiting for a good script to come his way after Mynaa, says, “The combination of Suresh Kumar’s script and the production values of Full House Entertainment impressed me enough to sign up. I think it was well worth the wait. I play a simple lower middle class boy who falls in love with a rich girl. With sheer hard work, I become rich and famous but my new life brings with it new problems. The story is about I handle them to live a good life.”

Vazhakku Enn 18/9 has won several awards and Kumki has surpassed our expectations in collection. I hear that many other producers are treating that as a benchmark. I have never come across more committed film makers like Balaji Sakthivel and Prabhu Solomon. Both breathe and live cinema and that is exactly what we at Thirrupathi Brothers love.” An elated Balaji Sakthivel says, “Of course I am excited...and relieved! At the time of making the film, the producers were so much supportive and their total belief in me was sometimes scary. I was worried...what if the film didn’t click? Today I am justified in my conviction and sincere efforts and I am thankful to the producers and my audience.” for making Vazhakku Enn 18/9 an award winning film."
