Abhilash ( Neethane En Ponvasantham ), Sania ( Oruvar Meedhu Iruvar Saaindhu ) and Varsha ( Peranmai, Neerparavai ) are the three main actors in director James David’s Pani Vizhum Malarvanam . Two other important roles are played by Jegan and Baba Laxmanan. This adventurous love story is said to have used Nature as the backdrop with most of the scenes set in picturesque Kumili and Thekkady. “The story starts in the city and focusses on a young couple in love who elopes due to objections from the families. The two land up in a hill station where they run into a single mother and her young son. Several situations highlight the intense family bonding between them and teach the young couple the importance of parental love and concerns. Encounters with wildlife too bring them closer,” says David. The songs are composed by first-time music director Rejin, with lyrics by Vairamuthu.

A window to life

Vemal, Vidharth, Manisha and Poorna form the foursome in director Karu Palaniappan’s Jannal Oram. Vemal plays a bus conductor while Parthepan dons the role of the driver. Says Karu Palaniappan, “The story is set in Pannaikkaadu, a hillside village, with only one bus service to and from a nearby town. The driver and the conductor, being regulars on this route, consider themselves village residents. Jannal Oram is a love story with suspense.” The film is complete except for one song, which is under progress. Palaniappan hopes for a release in a couple of months.

Women power

This Punjabi kudi has made a name for herself in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, and has a few Kannada and Malayalam films, too, to her credit. And right now, Poonam Bajwa is busy with Ethiri En 3 and a few other projects. “ Ethiri En 3 is under production. Meanwhile, I have started work on director Pandyan’s Kannaale Kannan , in which I am acting alongside Trisha and Ramya Nambeesan. It’s a Tamil-Telugu bilingual with a heroine-centric subject and no heroes,” says the actor.

Horror with a twist

Producer Hansraj Saxena’s Sax Pictures’ first production Shivani is getting ready for release. Directed by Sai Gokul Ramnath, who had worked with K.V. Anand, Shivani stars Chandru, Kavya Shetty, Vaali and Nithin Sathya. Music is by Sreejith-Sachin. Says Hansraj, “This is a horror film with a twist — there is an element of romance to it. I’m looking to create a brand to use as a franchise for a series in this genre. The film will be released after the current cricket season.”
