Thoppi

Another cop story

After Madurai Sambavam and Sivappu Enakku Pidikkum , director Youreka’s Thoppi is getting ready for release. “The film is about a young man from a gangster family who wants to become a cop. In his efforts to join the police force, he faces resistance from the local community as well as from the police, and dies under questionable circumstances. What happens thereafter is what Thoppi is all about,” says Youreka. Actress Raksha Raj from Kerala is paired with Murli Ram in Thoppi . “Raksha Raj is trained in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattam,” says Youreka.

G. V. in Germany

Film music composing, acting, and now, G. V. Prakash Kumar is in Germany to work with an orchestra to compose a song. “It is indeed a proud moment for me to compose music for an international brand’s ad commercial, and I am glad my reputation as a musician has reached across the seas to people who want to work with talents from across the world. I am in Germany to compose for a symphony orchestra in Stuttgart,” says Prakash.

Dream come true

Though hailing from an agricultural family from Palghat, Pranav always wanted to be in films. While in college, he actively took part in student dramatics. “At the state level, I was adjudged best theatre actor two years in a row. This spurred me to look for opportunities in films and I posted my profile on Facebook,” says Pranav. And that’s how the talent scouts for director P. C. Anbazhahan spotted him. “I auditioned and did a screen test for P.C. and his cinematographer Kartik Raja and was selected to play the lead opposite Monika in the director’s third film Nathikal Nanaivathillai . Now, I have signed my first Malayalam film with director Sathish Sathya, and a second Tamil film about which I cannot reveal anything now. In Nathikal Nanaivathillai , my role is very sentimental,” he says.
