India Film Project from September 20 to 28

The third edition of the India Film Project, which gives budding filmmakers a platform to showcase their work, will be held from September 20 to 28 in Ahmedabad. Filmmakers such as Tigmanshu Dhulia, Nikhil Advani and Bejoy Nambiar are on the jury this year.

The festival gives budding filmmakers a chance to make films in 48 hours on a common theme. They can shoot their films in their own cities and upload them online. The festival will accept international entries as well. Advani, known for films such as Kal Ho Naa Ho and Delhi Safari, believes such platforms will help the growth of the industry. “Our industry is growing exponentially and needs professionals in front of and behind the camera. Initiatives such as the India Film Project need to be supported as they provide a platform for new talent to be showcased,” Advani said in a statement. Besides the competition, the India Film Project will witness a five-day film festival, workshops by eminent filmmakers and technicians, film marketing-related panel discussions and exhibitions.

“We have received registrations from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru to smaller cities like Siliguri, Bhilai, Davangere, Rajkot, Dehradun, Indore, Ranchi, Raipur and many more tier II cities,” said Ritam Bhatnagar, founder and project director.
