What it is about…
Puthagam , written and directed by Vijay Adhiraj, features Sathya (actor Arya’s brother), Sanjay Bharathi (director Santhanabharathi’s son), Vignesh, JB, Suresh, Rakul Preeth Singh, Rachanna Mouriya, Iswarya Rajesh, Delhi Ganesh, Manobala, ‘Crazy’ Mohan, Uma Padmanaban and Fathima Babu. How a book proves to be a turning point in the lives of three youngsters is what Puthagam is about.
Music highlights
The first two songs on the album, ‘Kondadathan’ and ‘Mella Pookkudhe,’ have been written by Na. Muthukumar. While ‘Kondadathan,’ sung by Tippu, Rahul and Sunandan, is a peppy number, ‘Mella,’ sung by Belli Raj and Deepa Miriam, is melodious. Pa. Vijai has written the next two numbers, ‘Italica’ and ‘Say That You Love Me.’ While Mathangi has rendered ‘Italica’ well, ‘Say That You Love Me,’ sung by Suchithra and Prasad, is sure to click with the youngsters. Madan Karky’s ‘Money is so Funny’ is a beautifully composed hard rock number, sung by Gerard Thomson and Maya.

Producer V. Ramadoss: I am an NRI industrialist from Seychelles. Actor Vijay Adhiraj is a good friend of mine. When he discussed the line of Puthagam with me, I got interested in producing the film. After this, I plan to produce at least half a dozen films a year.
Director Vijay Adhiraj: I have been in the industry for nearly two decades. We could start the shoot of Puthagam as soon as producer Ramadoss green lighted the project, as I was ready with the bound script. Now the film is ready and I am confident of its success.
Hero Sathya:Puthagam is my first film. Director Adhiraj has worked extensively on the script. He was clear about what he wanted from us, artistes. As he himself is an actor, it was easy for us to work with him. Some of my friends who saw the rushes have praised my work and I am waiting to see the reaction of the public.
Music Director James Vasanthan: When director Sasikumar said that I was going to score the music for Subramaniapuram , some of his friends were against it, the reason being I was not familiar with the rural milieu. But once the songs became a hit, I ended up getting only village-based themes. I was longing to compose for a city-centric story, and Puthagam happened. I feel this is one of my best albums in recent times.
