Music highlights
‘Asathum azhagu,' sung by Ajay Sathyan and Navin Madhav, is the best — it has lyrics by Viveka. A simple melody with guitar and percussion instruments, the song stands out because of its strong vocals. ‘Yele yae pulle,' rendered by Karthik and Chinmayi, is fast-paced and catchy. ‘Yeno en idayam,' sung by Navin Iyer and Haricharan, is slow and mellow. ‘Yethu yethu' is folk number sung by Anoop Shankar and Jazzie Gift — here the lyricist successfully brings out the many facets of Tuticorin. ‘Yakkai sutrum,' written by Francis Kripa and sung by Anoop Shankar and Bhavyalakshmi, is fast-paced. ‘Enakkulle enakkulle,' written by the director himself, is short and melodious.
What they say…
Producer J. Mahalakshmi: An ardent fan of films, I was keen to produce one. When I learnt that K. S. Thangasamy, an associate of directors Kanagu, K. Stephan and ‘Naveen' Muthuraman, had a good story, I asked him to narrate it. The story was good with some interesting twists and turns in the screenplay. And I gave the green signal to Raattinam .
Director K. S. Thangasamy:Raattinam is a love story with family sentiment and a social message. I have handled the film realistically. That's why I promoted all new faces in the film except Elizabeth, Tharun master and director Raja who is now acting on the big as well as the small screens. People will certainly like the movie as it has an arresting climax.
Hero Laguparan: I have worked as an assistant to a couple of directors. Director Thangasamy saw my photo on Facebook and asked me to meet him. That's how I got a break in Raattinam. It is a love story which has ample scope for a newcomer to showcase his talent. When I saw the film at the dubbing stage, I felt it has the makings of a hit.
Music Manuramesan: I am from Kerala. My father, S. Ramesan Nair, is a lyricist. When I told him I wanted to be a composer, he was very happy. My first film was Pidichirukku directed by Kanagu. There I met director Thangasamy, who worked as an associate to Kanagu. I have done many Malayalam movies and a Telugu movie. Raattinam has melodious songs which will surely appeal to listeners.
