What it is about…
After Avan Ivan, director Bala is coming out with yet another interesting film, Paradesi, which portrays the sad lives of workers in tea plantations in the 1930s. The film has Atharva, Dhanshika, Vedhika and Jerry in the lead roles. Chezhiyan has handled the camera; Kishore T.E. has edited the film; C.S. Balachander is the art director; Nanjil Nadan has penned the dialogues; and Vairamuthu, the lyrics. The audio of Paradesi was released by veteran director Balu Mahendra and received by actors Vikram and Suriya.
Music highlights
The album has five songs. Music director G. V. Prakash has done justice to the songs in this period flick. ‘Avatha Paiyya’ is a folk number rendered with conviction by Yazin and Vandana Srinivasan. ‘Sengaade’ in the voices of Madhu Balakrishnan and Pragathi Guruprasad is equally good. ‘Or Mirugam,’ sung by V. V. Prasanna and Pragathi Guruprasad, has powerful lines that highlight the negative traits of man. ‘Thannai Thanae,’ sung by Bala, is an out-and-out ‘Gaana’ number. ‘Senneer Thaana’ is an emotion-drenched song rendered beautifully by Gangai Amaran and Priya Hemesh.

Director Bala:Paradesi is a film I enjoyed even while making it. It is inspired by an English novel Red Tea. I have tried to portray the agony, pain and the frustration of workers in a tea plantation in Paradesi .
Hero Atharva: I did not think that I would work with a legend like director Bala in my third film itself. It was a great learning experience for me.
Music director G. V. Prakash: Working with Bala was a fascinating experience as he has the knack of picking the right tune. He gave me full freedom and encouraged me to come up with my best.
