What it is about…

Synergy Creations' Nugam is directed by Jeffy, who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogue. The music is scored by D. J. Gopinath, while the lyrics are by Ilayakumar. The cast comprises Jeybala, Iniya, Suresh, Reeshkadir, Preethi and ‘Ganja' Karuppu. Ramesh has handled the camera and A. L. Ramesh has edited the film. The audio of Nugam was released in Paris at the entrance to the Eiffel Tower by French celebrity Nadeje Beausson Diagne. When talking about Indian films, Nadeje said she would like to act in one of them, particularly a Tamil film.

Music highlights

There are five songs in the film, all westernised, except ‘Onnu onnu rendudi' sung by Naveen and Sangeetha. ‘Onnu onnu' is a kuthu song with a fast beat. ‘En kanavin snehitiyae,' sung by Naresh Iyer, is a beautiful number in which the guitar is predominant. ‘Na romba ketta payyan' is sung by the music director himself. ‘Nee parththadum,' sung by Benny Dayal and Mathangi, is in hip hop style and is sure to appeal to the younger generation. Yeppadi Ennul' is a song filled with pathos and sung by Sathyan.

What they say…

Director Jeffy: This is my second film after Eerppu . I have worked under directors such as R. Balu, Vikram and Ram. It is a story of two villains and we have shot the film in France, Switzerland, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. The scene shot in front of a leading textiles showroom in T. Nagar is a highlight. The credit should go to our cameraman Ramesh who has done wonders with the shot.

Hero Jeybala: I started with TV productions in Malaysia and landed in Chennai to do feature films. When I was shooting for my first film Eerppu , directed by Jeffy, Nugam came along from the same director. It had a powerful character as its protagonist. So after we finished the shooting of Eerppu, we went on to complete Nugam . After Nugam releases, we would like to finish the post-production work of Eerppu and release it soon. I am happy two of my films will see the light of the day this year itself.

Music director D. J. Gopinath: I wielded the baton when I was only 17. I've worked with some of the best music directors. I am a guitarist and a pianist. I made my debut as a music director with the Telugu film Istam in 2003. I have done albums in Japanese and one in English too. After Nugam, I am doing Tholkapian and Gavanam .
