What it is about…

Prince Media’s Mouna Mazhai is produced by K. Jaffer Ali and written and directed by Anand. Adish has scored the music for V. M. Arumugam’s lyrics. The cast includes Dilip kumar, Manisha Jith, ‘Kadhal’ Dhandapani, Shanmugarajan, ‘Ganja’ Karuppu, Sashi Subramoney, “Adukalam” Stella and Madurai Saroja. The story is about the plight of the workers in cashew plantations and how the lead pair undergo various tribulations and fall in love. The audio was released by Kalaipuli Sekaran, Chitra Lakshmanan and received by director Manoj Kumar and Raja, secretary, Film and Television Guild of South India, in the presence of actor Peeli Sivam.

Music highlights

There are four songs in the album. ‘Sadhi Madham Pakkadha,’ sung by Magizhini Manimaran, is good. ‘Kadhal Pookkuthe’ sung by Prasanna stands out for its lyrics. ‘Kadhali En Kadhali’ sung by Mahalingam is above average, while ‘Singampola Vesam Pottu’ has been beautifully rendered by Anuradha Sriram.

What they say…

Producer K. Jaffer Ali: I am into the real estate business. I met director Anand through a common friend. He told me a story, which impressed me a lot. As I do not know much about the film industry, I asked several questions and the way the director explained the potential problem areas I was floored and decided to back the film. Now I am happy it has come out well.

Director Anand: I have made two films Oru Mazhai Nangu Saral and Thel . In this film, I have focussed on a community and woven a love story into it.

Hero Dilipkumar: I have acted in Othaveedu and Pudhiya Kaviyam . After seeing the stills of my first film, the director asked me to come for an audition. And I got selected for the lead role.

Music director Adish: I have done a couple of Tamil films Nadikaiyin Vakkumoolam and Thel . I have scored the music for nearly 30 films in Kannada and some in Telugu. As I have worked earlier with director Anand on his Thel , I knew what his expectations would be. I am getting good response from those who have listened to the songs.
