What it is about…

Balamurugan Films’ Kaasikuppam is about a group of people who indulge in organ theft. Besides playing the hero, Arun has produced and directed the film, and written the story, screenplay and dialogue. Keerthi Chawla and Sowmiya are the heroines, while “Adukalam” Narein, Livingston and Rama play supporting roles. The camera is handled by Pinchala Sham, and the music is scored by T. B. Balaji. Hidesh Shankar has taken care of the editing, while the dances have been choreographed by SP. Saravanan, and the stunt sequences by Speed Syed.

Music highlights

Of the five songs in the album, the two best ones are — ‘Nalla Neram’, written by Tamil Amudhan and rendered by Shankar Mahadevan, and ‘Vazha Vecha Vallal’, written by Surekaa and sung by Manikka Vinayagam. Surekaa has penned the other three numbers too — ‘Kuppathu Mama’ sung by Priya Hemesh, ‘Muranthoda Vazhkaiyila’ sung by Manasi, and ‘Pancha Booda’ rendered by Pratap Balu and Vidyalakshmi.

What they say…

Producer-director-hero Arun: Though I am in the real estate business, I always wanted to enter the film industry. I had the capital required to produce a film, but as no actor could give me dates, I decided to play the lead role myself. Being a movie with a social message, I’m confident of its success at the box-office.

Music director P. B. Balajee: I’ve scored the music for Inba and Sooran in Tamil, besides two Kannada films and one in Telugu. I have been scoring the music and the title tracks for Sun TV’s in-house productions. I have also done the re-recording for Siddhu +2 and Kathiri Veyil . I’ve worked hard on the music for Kaasikuppam, and am sure the songs will appeal to the masses.
