What it is about…

The audio of Sri Sarasapusany Films' Amirthayogam was released by director Vikraman and received by directors Thirumalai and producer Srinivasan. Produced by N. B. Jayasegra Udayar, the film is directed by Manickaraj. Sridhar and Vennila play the lead, while Manobala, Scissor Manohar, Puja and Laksha comprise the supporting cast. Music highlights

There are five songs in the album. ‘Raman Thedum,' written by Na. Muthukumar and sung by Tippu, is melodious. The same song is sung by Usha Raj, and is the last number. In ‘Pavendar porantha,' lyricist Viveka has highlighted the greatness of Puducherry. ‘Kaiya thodala,' an item number in baila and kuthu style, is sung by Malathi and written by Kalidas. ‘Ezhudhiya kadhai' is pathos-filled. Sung with feeling by Anand and Sudhavalli, it's written by Padmadevan.

What they say…

Producer N. B. Jayasegra Udayar: I am a civil engineer from Puducherry. The climax of Amirthayogam reminded me of an MGR or Sivaji Ganesan film. As I am a big fan of these stars, I wanted to produce the film. When Amirthayogam went on floors, thedirector suggested that I give acting a shot and that's how I got to play the role of the hero's father.

Director Manickaraj: I have directed a number of short films and won the ‘Kalaimamani' award from the Puducherry Government. This is my debut movie. I gave up a Government job to pursue my interest in films. Amirthayogam is a dream-come-true. How a young man comes up in life despite hardships is the story.

Hero Sridhar: As an engineering student, I happened to meet director Manickaraj. He told me that if I wanted a role his film, I had to shed at least 15 kg. Though I was taken aback by what he said, I took it as a challenge and worked hard. After a few months, I got the green signal and we began to shoot the first half. When the director told me about the second half, I realised why he wanted me to lose weight. I was floored by his sincerity and dedication. Today, when I see the film, I am happy.

Music director R. K. Sundhar: I am basically a keyboardist. I started out as a stage musician and became a recording artist in 2000. I have played the keyboard for music directors such as Shankar-Ganesh, Aadhithyan and Praveen Mani. In 2005, I was introduced to director Bharathi Kannan who wanted me to score the music for Vayasu Pasanga . Then I composed the music for Unarchigal, Laya, Aasai Paravai, Nee Unnai Arindhal and Karuthakannan c/o Rekla Race . Now I'm working on three films — Kadhal Payanam , Anubhavi Raja Anubhavi and Yaavum Vasappadum . The music of Amirthayogam is varied and the album, interesting.
