Music highlights

There are five songs in the album‘Sedimazhai’ is a melody in Natabhairavi, sung by Chinmayee and written by Yugabharathi. ‘Gandhiavadhi,’ written by Yugabharathi and sung by Sunanthan, K. Parthibhan and Padmalatha, traverses different styles — from good-old MKT to cowboy. ‘Azhaga Irundha,’ sung by Harini S. Raghavan and penned by Snehan, has peppy beats — a beautiful number which is in Hindustrani style in parts. ‘Summave,’ sung by Krishnaraj and written by Yugabharathi, is a typical south Indian folk number. ‘Seethaikku,’ sung by Priya Hemesh and written by Snehan, is a mixture of two Carnatic ragas, Simhendramadhyamam and Keeravani, with the beats of reggaeton making it suitable for the dance floor.

What they say…

Producer and hero P. Saravanan: I practise medicine in Madurai. I felt I could reach more people through a medium like cinema. Hence I decided to produce a film and also act in it. That’s how I ended up making this film. Akilan is the story of an upright police officer, who gets de-motivated by his superiors, and how he takes on a lead role when a kidnap drama takes place. His work inspires confidence in the department. The film has been shot in and around Madurai.

Director S. I. Henry Joseph: I worked as an assistant to directors Subramaniam Siva, S. S. Stanley and Moorthy and have made two short films, including Mazhaithuli. When I wanted to do a full-fledged feature film, I approached Saravanan. After listening to the storyline, he asked me to start work immediately. I am sure the film with around 13 comedians in it will have audiences in splits.

Music director Ganesh Raghavendra: I have scored the music for devotional albums, jingles and short films. Renigunta , my first film, got me a good name and it was followed by Padam Paarthu Kathai Sol . I did the RR for Porkodi Patham Vaguppu . Akilan is a good movie with a message and its songs have come out well. Acharyangal and Mathil Mel Poonai are my upcoming films.
