Amitabh condoles death of Shammi Kapoor

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has condoled the demise of veteran actor Shammi Kapoor, saying “joie de vivre of the industry is lost”.

The 79-year-old actor passed away at Breach Candy Hospital here this morning due to chronic renal failure.

“Shammi Kapoor ji passed away this morning at 5:15 am...Rushing there now... the flamboyance and joie de vivre of the Industry lost!” Bachchan said on micro-blogging site twitter.

“An entire life full of optimism and happy spirit, caring loving to all... now suddenly silent,” he said.

Kapoor debuted in Bollywood in 1953 with ‘Jeevan Jyoti’ and went on to deliver hits like ‘Dil Deke Dekho’, ‘Junglee’, ’Professor’, ‘China Town’, ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’, ‘Teesri Manzil’, ’An Evening in Paris’, ‘Bramhachari’ and ‘Vidhaata’ among others.
