From starting his career as an MTV VJ and going on to bag leading roles in a slew of Bollywood films, Aditya Roy Kapur has come a long way. He is presently working on OK Jaanu directed by Shaad Ali. It is a remake of Mani Ratnam’s critically acclaimed and commercially successful OK Kanmani . In the city for a store launch, the actor talks about the film, his equation with the co-stars and his journey in the industry.

How was the experience of working forOK Jaanu? Will it be different fromOK Kanmani? Have you watched the movie?

We did not want to make any changes to the original script. It’s such a lovely film and I loved it. We wanted to stay true to the source material and not tamper too much. We are halfway with the shoot. I am really excited about the film

How was the experience of working with Shraddha Kapoor, after the success of Aashiqui 2?

I had a great time working with her in Aashiqui-2. It was a film that was a turning point of our careers. She is wonderful to work with. We share a good rapport and I hope that it reflects on screen as well.

How has your stint as a VJ helped your acting?

As a VJ, I was in front of a camera throughout the day. I feel that it makes you comfortable facing a camera. I think that is very important for an actor. It was a great job. I had a lot of fun. It let me meet a lot of interesting people. I had interviewed half the industry before I became an actor. It has helped me a lot.

Did being part of a filmy family help in getting a foothold in the industry?

Growing up, we were never a filmy family. It’s only over the last few years that we have become part of the industry. We have similar things to talk. Our interests are the same so we bond on discussions over films.

What is the most important factor that influences you to take up a film?

The script and the director are the most important factors .If the script is something that’s exciting and the director is someone who you believe can do justice to the script, I am happy to sign up.
